Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 22, 2026

1. Introduction

Bassfinity ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website and services at bassfinity.com (the "Service").

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address
  • Display name
  • Profile photo (optional)
  • Home location (optional, for solunar forecasts)
  • Fishing preferences (experience level, fishing styles, favorite lakes)

User-Generated Content

When you log catches or contribute to the community, we collect:

  • Photos of your catches
  • Catch details (species, weight, length, location, lake name, notes)
  • Fishing spots you save or share via SpotLens (including their coordinates, spot type, and any notes)
  • Ratings, reviews, and species reports you submit for spots
  • Date and time of catches and contributions

Location Data

When you use location-based features such as the Intelligence Map or SpotLens, we process location information to deliver conditions and recommendations. This includes the device location you share when you use "locate me," the map area (coordinates) you are viewing, and the coordinates of lakes or spots you open. You can decline browser location access; the map will then default to a general view instead of your position.

Authentication Data

If you sign in using Google or Discord, we receive basic profile information from these services (name, email, profile picture) as permitted by your settings with those providers.

Automatically Collected Information

  • Browser type and version
  • Device information
  • IP address
  • Pages visited and features used
  • Date and time of visits

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve our services
  • Create and manage your account
  • Provide personalized solunar forecasts based on your location
  • Deliver water and conditions intelligence (wind, flow, clarity, waves, tides, and satellite imagery) for the map area you view
  • Compute best-spot and casting-direction recommendations for your conditions
  • Aggregate catch, saved-spot, and tackle data in a de-identified form to power Community Hot Zones (we do not show who logged a catch)
  • Store and display your catch history and saved spots
  • Process subscription payments and manage your Pro plan
  • Send service-related communications (account verification, security alerts)
  • Respond to your inquiries and support requests
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve user experience
  • Protect against fraud and unauthorized access

4. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your data with:

Service Providers

  • Supabase - Database and authentication services
  • Vercel - Website hosting
  • Vercel Analytics - Privacy-friendly, aggregated usage analytics that help us improve the Service
  • Stripe - Payment processing for Pro subscriptions (we do not store your full card details)
  • Mapbox - Map rendering and geolocation; receives the map area and, if you use "locate me," your device location to display the map
  • AI model providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, and xAI Grok) - Power our AI features, such as BassLens fish identification (which processes the catch photos you submit) and SpotLens and TackleLens recommendations
  • Anuclei Multisynapse - Evaluation, scoring, and system-of-record for our AI features; helps us monitor and improve the quality and reliability of AI outputs
  • Google - OAuth authentication (if you choose to sign in with Google)
  • Discord - OAuth authentication (if you choose to sign in with Discord)

Your data is never used to train AI models. We connect to frontier AI providers through enterprise accounts whose terms prohibit using your content — including the photos you submit — to train or improve their models. Your information is processed only to deliver the feature you requested and is governed by those providers' enterprise data-protection terms.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.

Public and Community Content

Catch photos and details you mark as "public" may be visible to other users; you can control this setting for each catch. Fishing spots, ratings, and reviews you choose to share via SpotLens are visible to the community. In addition, catch and spot activity may be aggregated in a de-identified form to power Community Hot Zones — these heatmaps show where fish are being caught without identifying who logged them.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which employs industry-standard security measures including encryption at rest and in transit. While we implement appropriate safeguards, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services.

When you delete your account, your data enters a 30-day recovery period during which you can restore your account. After 30 days, all your data (profile, photos, catches) is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access - Request a copy of your personal data
  • Correction - Update or correct inaccurate information
  • Deletion - Delete your account and associated data
  • Portability - Receive your data in a portable format
  • Objection - Object to certain processing of your data

You can exercise most of these rights through your account settings. For other requests, contact us at info@bassfinity.com.

8. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete your information, and the right to opt-out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

9. European Privacy Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Our legal basis for processing is your consent (for account creation) and legitimate interests (for service improvement and security).

10. Cookies and Local Storage

We use cookies and local storage to maintain your session, remember your preferences, and improve your experience. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling them may affect functionality.

11. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
